Friends’ members assist the park through a variety of projects such as maintaining the tortoise habitat, assisting with park events/programs, special projects, park cleanups, and much more. Were you ever a member of Lions Clubs International?

The new Queen Creek Lions Club could use your help.

If you have ever belonged to a Lions Club anywhere in the world, please call Lion Carl Johannesen (480-924-0737) or email at janpro3@aol.com.

The new Queen Creek Lions will provide a local opportunity for men and women to serve the community through projects like children’s vision screening, providing eyeglasses for those children who can’t afford them, college scholarships and much more.

Members will meet every second and fourth Fridays at 8:00 A. M. at the Edward Jones offices near Wal-Mart , 18550 E RITTENHOUSE RD SUITE 101-B

Interested individuals or families are welcome to get acquainted by attending a meeting or working on a Lions project. Call or email for more information.

Bountiful Baskets Food Co-op

Bountiful Baskets Food Co-op is a great non-profit originally located only in the East Valley, but now found in a lot more locations. This all-volunteer program can save families a lot of money on fruits and vegetables. Most of the produce is grown locally and/or organic. It is just $15.00 for a fruit/veggie basket that is equivalent to about $50.00 worth of food at the grocery store. You can purchase on-line and then pick-up on Saturday morning.

The $15.00 baskets are available every 2 weeks at different pick-up sites – many near The Villages. You are not required to participate every 2 weeks and can buy or not buy as you wish.

Most of what comes in the basket is in-season and they often have special offers on items such as granola, canning items, breads, olive oils, spices, nuts, ¼ beef, etc.

Participants are asked to bring a laundry basket, cooler, box, or bags to bring their items home from the pick-up sites.
